The Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science (GHUCCTS) is a multi-institutional consortium of medical research institutions forged from a desire to promote clinical research and translational science. The members of the GHUCCTS consortium are: Georgetown University, Howard University, MedStar Health Research Institute, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and the Washington Veterans Affairs Medical Center. 

Community Engagement, as part of GHUCCTS services, supports development of sustainable partnerships between academic researchers and community stakeholders.  These services are designed to stimulate long-term collaborations that will promote translation of health research into effective practice and public policy.

The Office of Research Development (ORD) was created in September 2012 to support Principal Investigators and other research staff members to facilitate processes that impact the execution and conduct of their grants.

ORD resides in the Office of the Provost and is designed to interface with faculty at Howard.

Research Administrative Services (RAS) promotes scholarly activity at Howard by coordinating all externally funded research and training related projects.
RAS has oversight of grants and contracts including accounting, reporting, compliance, auditing and sponsor interface. RAS is the official signatory of applications and awards for Howard University.

The Office of Regulatory Research Compliance (ORRC) ensures that research at the University is conducted in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines that protect human participants, animals, students, and staff involved with research.

HU IRB (Institutional Review Board) 

Howard University IRB (Medical and Non-Medical IRB Committees) review and provide oversight for all research involving human participants at Howard University and operate in compliance with the regulations of the U.S.
